1998 May 20

Macau

1-, 1.50-, and 2-pataca stamps commemorate the 500th anniversary of the voyage of Vasco da Gama to India, but gives the date 1598 instead of 1498. Also, splitting his name into "VAS CO DA GA MA" without hyphens gives the viewer no clue to how to reassemble his name. Versions with the corrected date were issued in September.
