1/2-cent through $5 stamps in three designs inscribed "IMPERIAL CHINESE POST"; text reversed to "CHINESE IMPERIAL POST" in 1898 and all stamps re-issued.

1949 April

China

$5 stamp depicts transportation and tower flying a Japanese flag in error.

1953 February

China

Four 800-yuan stamps commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution. The Chinese inscription means "35th Anniversary of the Soviet Union October Revolution", which is incorrect, as the Soviet Union was not formed until 1922. The stamps were recalled, colors changed, text changed to "35th anniversary of the Great October Revolution", and re-issued October 5, 1953.

1968 November

8-fen stamp inscribed in Chinese "The entire nation is red" shows a map of China in red but Taiwan in white.

2-yuan stamp depicts Olympic rings and athletes, but the placement of arms and rings are sometimes not possible (arm should be in front of yellow ring, wrist should be in front of green ring).

8-fen stamp depicts a rainbow with purple next to red when it should be at the other end next to blue.

8-feb stamp depicts a horse with three rear legs and one front leg.

Approximate value: US$0.20.

1990 October 10

China

20-fen stamp depicts chemical production process of ammoniak, but incorrectly labels "CH2" instead of "CO2".

Catalog numbers: Scott 2303

Approximate value: US$0.20.
